Reading Rocks in Mrs. Lankamp's First Grade!
Students learn to read by reading. So...divulging into reading is what we do best in first grade! At the heart of our curriculum is literacy and writing. Therefore, the majority of our day focuses on language arts, phonics, and writing instruction.
Making sure your child is reading every night at home for at least 10 minutes is crucial in first grade. Research shows that children who read at least 10-15 minutes outside of school every day meet or exceed expectations in the classroom.
Our classroom takes part in the BookIt Reading Program. Check out thier great website for parent information and printables.
One of our favorite reading websites is "Starfall." This is a great website. It is packed with interactive reading fun!
