My name is Jessica Webster and I am a First Grade teacher at WMAAA. I graduated from Grand Haven High school and went on to Muskegon Community College where I obtained an Associate of Science and Arts degree. From there I attended Grand Valley State University and earned a bachelor of science in biology and a teaching certificate in 2003. I continued my education at GVSU and earned a master of education degree in reading/language arts the summer of 2008. This is now my fourth year at the academy teaching first grade. As a teacher, my mission is to provide a learning environment that supports both mental and emotional well being. I believe in connecting core subjects like math, reading, and writing to the arts, because it helps students understand concepts at a deeper level than if taught in isolation. By fostering these connections, my ultimate goal as an educator is to nurture the blossoming autonomy of students and help pave the foundation to become confident, life-long learners.
